Just then the plant started to wilt. The fern let out a an agonizing scream followed by one last gasp. The leaves that remained turned black and fell to the floor. The pot began to shake violently and imploded with a puff of smoke. Three dry leaves lying on the floor were all that remained of the once beloved plant.

Al was devastated. “How can I go on living without that fern? Life has no meaning. I’m going to end it all.” he cried and jumped out of the window.
Unfortunately Al forgot that he lived in a one story bungalow. He did not succeed in ending his life but he did get a nasty bruise on his shin. Gloria quickly called 911 and an ambulance took him to the nearest hospital. He was treated for chronic depression and became dependent on Children's Chewable vitamins, particularly the green ones. Al’s family sued Gloria for a large sum of money which they used to hire a nurse-companion to live with Al for the rest of his days.
